Graduation Ceremony Held for Hitit University’s 7th “Children’s University”
Hitit University held a graduation ceremony for 59 students who participated in the 7th edition of the “Children’s University” this year.
In her speech at the ceremony held in Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall, Prof. Dr. Nurcan Baykam, Vice Rector of Hitit University, highlighted that the “Hitit Children’s University” project has been successfully carried out for seven years.
Baykam noted that the project has also received recognition from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), saying:
"We welcome our children to the university by combining science, technology, arts, and cultural heritage with fun. We open all the university’s laboratories to our students and show them how the university works with our expert instructors."
Expressing excitement at graduating children for the 7th time, she added:
"This project is one of the most important indicators of universities’ mission to serve society. We are proud to carry it out successfully at Hitit University."
Baykam also stated that the program hosted 59 children aged 9–11 this year, emphasizing the individualized learning approach:
"The educational process closely mirrors real university education. Preparations begin months in advance, and our instructors apply pedagogical methods to deliver the lessons."
Deputy Governor Yeliz Mercan highlighted that the project provides children with opportunities to engage with science, culture, arts, and national and moral values, adding:
"Early education shapes our lives. It is crucial in the formation of our personality and professional careers. I congratulate parents for enrolling their children in this program; you will see the significant impact it has on their future."
Following the speeches, certificates of appreciation were presented to academic and administrative staff who contributed to the project. The children performed songs they learned during the program as a choir and then threw their graduation caps.
The ceremony was attended by Halide Çalgan, spouse of Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan; Feyza Aşgın, spouse of Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın; academic and administrative staff involved in the project, and the students’ families.
